nuclear weapons

After reading Hiroshima remembers atomic bomb, I began thinking about 'weapons of mass destruction', nuclear proliferation, anti-proliferation, all of it, and I remembered my grandfather saying (while he was here Monday-Wednesday, leaving early Thursday morning) how we all needed to get rid of it all...

Will we? Can we really, I mean? I don't know that we can. With all of the evil in today's world, I find it hard to imagine, barring a miracle, peace on earth. Peace through the compromise of "You kill me, I kill you," perhaps... :\

We cannot get rid of weapons without getting rid of the want for them, hatred. And we've never been able to get past that fundamental flaw.

God help us all. Or continue to, anyway. I asked my grandfather what he thought life would be like in sixty years. He said, "Oh, no; you're all going to kill each other, before then."

What an optimist.
